The Government of Canada has recently announced the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) as a new financial relief program for Canadians impacted by COVID-19.

This benefit pays $2,000 every month for up to four months to working Canadians who’ve lost their income as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. If this is you, we want to ensure you get paid as quickly as possible.

We’ve launched a simple way to receive your CRA benefits, including the CERB, through direct deposit right from online banking!

3 Easy Steps to Set Up CRA Direct Deposit for CERB Payments

This is a quick and secure way to receive these CERB payments, as well as your other CRA payments, including income tax refunds, GST/HST credit and Canada child benefits.

STEP 1 - Enroll now through online banking — it's easy, fast and secure

Log in to online banking with your branch name, member number and access code (PAC/password).

STEP 2 - Set up CRA Direct Deposit

We’ve made it easy to set up directly through online banking. Just navigate to Account Services and click Set up CRA Direct Deposit. Then, fill out the form.

You’ll need to enter your payment information and select a CAD chequing or savings account to which you’d like your CRA payments deposited.

STEP 3 - Apply to receive the CERB on the CRA website

Remember, enrolling for CRA Direct Deposit does not register you for the CERB. The CRA administers the CERB. You can apply for the CERB directly with the Canada Revenue Agency.

To complete this step, you’ll need to sign in to your CRA My Account. If you do not have a CRA My Account, register for one. Here’s a helpful video on how to register for a CRA My Account

If you have questions about the CERB, or CRA My Account, call 1-800-959-8281.

After following all the steps and being approved to receive the CERB by the CRA, you’ll start receiving payments. It’s that simple.
